After enduring Sunday night’s ridiculous Lifetime movie “Liz Dick”, we had the urge to look back on the real Liz Taylor’s life (and her many, many weddings).
Taylor was married eight times to seven different men, and no two of the film star’s trips down the aisle were alike. From traditional celebrations to an African ceremony (followed by a safari honeymoon), Taylor’s wedding style was as eclectic as the actress herself.

Conrad “Nicky” Hilton
Taylor wed her a href=”http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,2098279_2098285_2098304,00.html”first husband/a, Conrad “Nicky” Hilton, on May 6, 1950 when she was 18 years old (Hilton was 24). Taylor’s a href=”http://www.shefinds.com/2011/elizabeth-taylor-the-queen-of-all-weddings-has-died-a-tribute-to-her-many-dresses/elizabeth_taylor/”wedding dress/a cost $1,500. The wedding ceremony was followed by a three-month honeymoon, and the pair divorced after 205 days of marriage.
Three months after divorcing Conrad Hilton, Taylor married a href=”http://voices.yahoo.com/michael-wilding-english-movie-actor-was-elizabeth-5246489.html?cat=2″Michael Wilding/a, a British actor 20 years her senior. At their London wedding, Taylor wore a modest a href=”http://www.glamour.com/weddings/blogs/save-the-date/2011/03/the-many-wedding-dresses-of-el.html” target=”_hplink”two-piece suit/a. After two sons and five years of marriage, the two divorced in 1957. Watch a newsreel about the Taylor-Wilding wedding a href=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O75kAg32PiY”here/a.
a href=”http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/life/people/2011-03-24-taylormarriages24_ST_N.htm” target=”_hplink”About one week/a after divorcing Michael Wilding, Taylor married film producer MikeTodd. Todd not only gave her a a href=”http://gemsaboutjewels.blogspot.com/2011/09/elizabeth-taylor-and-mike-todd-what-guy.html”29.4-carat diamond engagement ring/a, but also an antique Cartier tiara now valued at more than $60,000. The two were a href=”http://www.squidoo.com/liztaylorsmen#module4300056″married/a in Acapulco, Mexico in 1957, and the union ended a year later when Todd was killed in a plane crash. Todd and Taylor had one daughter.
Singer Eddie Fisher was the best man at Taylor and Todd’s wedding. Before Taylor, he was married to Debbie Reynolds. After Todd died, Fisher consoled Taylor, but the relationship soon turned romantic. Fisher quickly divorced Reynolds to marry Taylor, to whom he gave a a href=”http://ringspotters.com/2011/05/the-engagement-rings-of-elizabeth-taylor-3.html”bracelet/a made of 50 diamonds in lieu of an engagement ring. The couple was a href=”http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31749_162-20046190-10391698.html”married in Las Vegas/a in 1959, and divorced in 1964.
Taylor and Burton met on the set of “Cleopatra” and soon began having an affair (both were married at the time). They divorced their spouses and a href=”http://www.montrealgazette.com/entertainment/Elizabeth+Taylor+Richard+Burton+married+Montreal/4490576/story.html”married in a civil ceremony/a at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Montreal in 1964. Taylor wore a short yellow dress instead of a traditional gown. The two divorced in 1974, but a href=”http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1285133/Richard-Burton-Elizabeth-Taylor-Two-marriages-divorces-love-riven-jealousy-betrayal-end.html”remarried in 1975/a in Botswana. The ceremony was performed by an African district commissioner, and the “newlyweds” went on a safari for their honeymoon. They divorced for a second and final time in 1976.
Taylor married Republican politician John Warner in 1976, in a a href=”http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20077673,00.html”sunset ceremony/a at Warner’s farm. They a href=”http://www.people.com/people/package/article/0,,20261725_20476454,00.html”divorced/a in 1982.
Taylor met construction worker Larry Fortensky during her stay at the Betty Ford Clinic, and the two were a href=”http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/04/27/the-10-most-lavish-weddings-ever/slide/elizabeth-taylor-larry-fortensky/”married in 1991/a at Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch. Taylor wore a $25,000 Valentino gown to the ceremony, which was attended by celebrity guests like Eddie Murphy and Brooke Shields (as well as the ranch’s farm animals). The wedding was surrounded by paparazzi, and Taylor walked down the aisle with Jackson and her oldest son. Taylor was 59 and Fortensky was 39; they divorced in 1996.
